Non-Invasive Varicose Vein Treatment on the Treasure Coast

Do you suffer from swollen, twisted, rope-like veins near the surface of your skin? Do they present in a bluish-purple or red color and cause pain or discomfort? Varicose veins are likely the culprit.

The cardiovascular team at Treasure Coast Heart and Vascular (TCH&V) specializes in diagnosing and treating the underlying cause of varicose veins – helping to eliminate the painful and unsightly veins while working to prevent any future reoccurrences.

Why do varicose veins form?

In normally functioning veins, tiny one-way valves open as blood flows toward the heart and close to prevent blood from flowing backward. When these valves malfunction, blood pools in the veins, resulting in a buildup of pressure that weakens their walls, causing them to bulge.

Some potential causes of varicose veins include:

  • pregnancy
  • menopause
  • age over 50
  • standing for long periods of time
  • obesity
  • family history of varicose veins

What are the symptoms of varicose veins?

The primary symptoms of varicose veins are highly-visible, misshapen veins, usually on your legs. You may also have pain, swelling, heaviness, and achiness over or around the enlarged veins. The condition is very common, especially in women. Around 25 percent of all adults have varicose veins.

How do we treat varicose veins?

We treat most patients with varicose veins with our Endovenous Laser Treatment, also called Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA). This state-of-the-art procedure allows us to effectively remove varicose veins without the traditional method of “vein stripping.” There is no recovery time required. We want patients to get up and move as soon after this vein procedure as possible, as the body will naturally absorb the collapsed vein once treated.

RFA Vein Treatment is currently covered by Medicare and most insurance plans.
